Unlike locked-in, restrictive energy-generation-to-storage ratios associated with conventional, bespoke solutions, SmartCells provide the flexibility to change the ratio by simply swapping out modules if your requirements change, you wish to take advantage of renewable energy sources or the energy profile of your application has changed (e.g., if post-COVID work-from-home policies have altered the operating parameters in your office building).
As a result, storage capacity can be increased where and when renewable energy is available, to support demand response and take advantage of incentive programs.
Smart, flexible and portable, SmartCells provide native support for storing renewable energy. That means you can adopt sustainable and cost-effective energy management strategies that are good for the environment — and your business. Plus, storing energy in SmartCells can help you reduce greenhouse gases by 50% or more.
SynCells storage cells offer the highest, safest energy storage density available through our unique and patented cooling and fire-protective measures. While lithium-ion is the predominant storage chemistry, SynCells is chemistry- and supplier-agnostic. Using the highest energy density cells available, SynCells creates hybrid SmartCells using supercapacitors especially for applications with high power demands and/or transient spikes, such as electric vehicles. This improves the ability to absorb regenerative braking inrush. In addition to increasing the overall energy captured, it extends the life of the battery cells. Our approach keeps pace with next-generation chemistries so a major redesign can be avoided if you wish to integrate them into your vehicle, whether you’re a manufacturer or car enthusiast.
As an easily swappable module, the SmartCells can be moved from home to EV to office and beyond using a standardized interface and easy swapping, no tools required. Now you can buy less overall capacity, share among your systems and applications and rent extra capacity if you need to do a long road trip on occasion. By using the same SmartCell across more applications, an owner’s TCO can be significantly reduced. Should an issue arise with a SmartCell, or you’d like to upgrade, it can easily be removed without taking the rest of the system offline or requiring a major recall of a vehicle or system where the entire storage system is built in.
In the event of grid power outages from weather or natural disasters, SmartCells may be used to transport power from a central depot (think next-generation gas station, or big-box stores) to your home, keeping you online without the maintenance headaches of generators. Likewise, for EVs with a depleted battery, a SmartCell could be brought from home, or roadside assistance crews can carry them in their rescue vehicles.
